I have been a Vexilar guy through and through since starting ice fishing. Last year stepped up and bought the 28. I love it but…. the new Marcum shuttle looks super slick and convenient. I would think Vexilar would have to come up with something comparable to compete. Any other Vexilar guys feel the same? Guess you could somehow put a 28 on a shuttle but that is cheating. It would be like putting a Ecoboost in my Chevy. Well not really but kind of.. lol

Is vexilar really that interested in pushing the boundaries of ice fishing electronics? Give credit where credit is due. Is Marcum superior to vexilar. I don’t know (Marcum LX-9 owner) but they do like to try and push new things.. you could try put your 28 on a blue genz box…

I just think some of the features on the lithium shuttle are slick. The led light and USB are pretty nice especially all included. I supposed I could rig something on my Pro-Pack. Tight Lines

If you decide to buy the shuttle, sell me your Pro-Pack! I’ve been rocking the LX-7 on the shuttle it comes with, since the LX-7 came out, and every year I tell myself to put the LX-7 on a Pro-Pac, but I still haven’t done it. If you need that last little nudge to pull the trigger on the Marcum shuttle, you could look at it like you’d be helping someone else out too. You win I win? JK, but if you do want to sell your Pro-Pac I’ll buy it.

I’ve heard you can mount the FLX-28 on the Marcum shuttle if you choose. As far as pushing ice fishing technology I think vexilar has held their own. I will agree I like the shuttle. I also would like to see some digital units from Vexilar but nothing that turns out like the RT-9. Develop and test, test, test then release.

Why pay $250 for something you can customize and do yourself with your own options? Also if you think you want a shuttle and Vexilar will work with it also!!

The shuttle is just another toy to buy for ice fishing. Sure a guy could just add the lithium battery, Light, and usb port to whatever Marcum or vex they have…but then they wouldn’t have the “lithium shuttle”. Whats next? Maybe a go pro mount so you can watch yourself ice fish while not ice fishing? Wait…. forget I said that. doah

USB port on a the flasher, that sits on the ice, next to the hole…. cant see what could go wrong with that.

Plug in the phone, set the hook, go to pull the ducer line out and PLOP! No thanks, Ill keep my usb plug in devices in my jacket/ shelter with my normal battery pack.

And $250 bucks? that’s crazy! If I have an extra $250 bucks its going towards a lot more than a battery pack. You can buy a new auger or camera or a couple of really nice rod setups which are a much better investment in my opinion. Maybe if I had tons of extra money to spend, but I don’t…

To me its like the auger speed debate, a 5 second difference in my old auger to the new latest and greatest auger makes no sense to go buy the new one when the older model still works perfectly with very minimal gains.

Does the FL-28 really say “get ready” on it before you start fishing? idk why but I find that annoying

My FLX-28 gets plenty of runtime with out the shuttle and for 250 bucks I can lift a few more pounds. If needed USB charger or something else would just wire up for cheap. That is just me.

Plus I think the big screens of the Marcum chews up batteries. Pro and cons to everything.

Thanks for the input. I was looking it up and I could wire it up cheap. It only says “get ready” on demo mode.

Here’s my setup. Paid under 2 bills for my shuttle. Got the shuttle adapter from Joe’s sporting goods, 20% off. I like it, a lot. )

Pro Pack is just another setup that will fit in a bucket. Some guys like that better. Personally I don’t like something that round. Seems to spin next to a hole.

Yeah, Vexilar is so good it knows before the fish is going to bite and says ‘Get Ready!!’ ;-)

No that’s just the demo. The main screen just shows the depth and range it’s set in.

kylerk – no need to scratch the label off, haha. Both companies make good products. The only thing I needed additional to the shuttle besides the adapter was a marcum LX bracket, which I took from my LX5. I plan on adding the recon viewer but we’ll see.
