No need to rush this case and spend even more taxpayer money. Put all 4 of the cops in an all black prison and check back in a day.

How stupid is Derek Chauvin or any MPLS cop to risk anything that could go wrong in such a controlled environment, especially with cell phones rolling after all the un wanted attention this precinct has gotten over the years?

The arrogance of kneeling with his hands in his pockets like look at me guys, this is how to control a criminal.

It’s unfortunate that it had come to this but I wonder if the message will get through this time? Peaceful protests don’t amount to much change and rioting is a way to get the attention they crave. I feel for all the small business owners who had nothing to do with this and will probably never recover financially from it. All because of one bad decision.

do I understand you right, you condone the riots and looting?

absolutely not! but when you have thousands of angry people, this is the end result based on a terrible decision made by one guy. peaceful protests get nowhere so these angry people feel like it is the only way to send a message. the looters could give zero about the protests, they are just buzzards taking advantage of the situation and should be shot at with the rubber bullets as well.

I did read that officer Chauvin had 18 previous cvomplaints on file? Is that normal? The asian fellow has a small track record of abusing the badge as well. the other 2 were rookies in the wrong place at the wrong time it seems?

Looks like the precinct has been evacuated. No police or national guard in sight tonight.

This could have been largely prevented by an arrest immediately after the incident. Not really surprised seeing all the mistakes this department has made over the last few years….dam shame! Unbelievable really 3 angles of video must not be enough.

I don’t understand the state/city’s response of standing down and allowing rioters to act with free will, they are only emboldening them.

Also why have a press conference and not announce an arrest? You’re just adding fuel to the fire. Terrible responses on so many levels.

I think they could’ve handed the 4 policemen over 15 minutes after Mr Floyd’s death, and we’d have the same results.
City is warning gas lines are cut with explosives inside 3rd precinct. Could be a scare tactic, but it’s hard to turn the TV off at this point.

I’m trying to search my memory, but wasn’t there a guy named Ghandi back in the day who helped achieve independence for India from the most powerful empire in the world at the time? And with peaceful protests? Maybe I’ve got it all wrong.

And with a simple twist of fate Amy Klobuchar’s chance of being on Bidens ticket vanished. Apparently she let the neck kneeler and a bunch of other cops off the hook on a shooting some years back when she was city prosecutor. Whether she was right or wrong back then it won’t matter now.

Obviously the guy kneeling on his neck o have no sympathy for him and whatever is coming to him. But what about the other 3? What do you think they deserve? I thin 2 of them were rookies? Were they the other 2 just holding him down?

This mornings arrest of a black CNN reporter sure isn’t going to help the cause. With all the rioting going on, how do they decide that arresting and detaining a reporter is their best use of time/resources?

It appears idiotic to this guy.

When he’s standing in the middle of the street and they are telling him to move and he doesn’t its on him, they shouldn’t have had to hold his hand and escort him to the sidewalk.

On one hand I am extremely embarrassed for our state this morning allowing looters and rioters to run rampant destroying property, closing roads and shutting down valuable stores (Grocery, Target, etc) and taking violent control over parts of the metro unopposed. What kind of cowardly people have we become?!

On the other hand most of those morons are destroying their own neighborhoods.

Does anyone know what kind of geographical area we are talking about? I have heard it has been concentrated to a couple blocks (in Minneapolis at least) but then I have heard the issues were spread out over a much larger area. Trying to figure out how realistic it would be for the police/guard to control any of it, even with force.

I’m not saying what the cops did was right.

The guy should of just got into the damn car and none of this would of happened. If a cop tells you that you are under arrest and handcuffs you and tells you to get into the car then listen and shut your mouth. If you think your wrongly arrested then that’s what lawyers are for!

He would of most likely been out of jail and back on the streets already today if he complied to the officers commands to begin with.

It’s way more then a couple blocks. University Ave is in ruins. Lake Street is on fire. Haiwatha is rampaged. I saw buildings on fire West of 35 on lake st. St. Paul is looking ugly. I saw about a dozen out of state vehicles with full capacity driving into the city today…

Not necessarily. Many (if not most) have been shipped in from other states. Was at Kwik Trip here in Rochester yesterday and saw two vans with Illinois plates full of twenty-some year olds. They went into the store and you could hear them muttering racial slurs towards all the non-colored peeps. When they left they turned north on 52.

I’m sure the answer to all this is going to be to continue to and put even more harsh restrictions on the law abiding citizen and continue the economic suicide. Until people get tired of burning and looting and then we will consider a slow reopening.

It’s going to be a very bad night tonight. I’m headed 250 miles north tonight and will be 35 miles offshore tomorrow. Good luck. Stay safe.

I didn’t count in the list, but the radio said 270 businesses have been destroyed. Unfortunately this isn’t contained to just a couple blocks.. What a Mess……… (

The racism component is being manipulated. It all started with labeling the cop and the suspect as black this and white that. They are people or men. The media is to blame for kicking racism into full gear by constantly labeling people by their race.
