Well a big oak split last night and landed on my roof. Woke up about 3 am and thought it was just thunder. But I guess not. The wifey just sent me these pics. Looks like I’m going to be hanging from trees tonight. Not looking forward to it.

Looking at the first pic I thought the wind tipped your house.

That’s a bummer, but at least it’s only part of the tree.

Any actual tree cutters in the north metro?
This is a monstrous branch barely dangling from the tree itself. I might actually be willing to hire this one out. Isnt often I pay any one to do anything. But I have a good feeling insurance will flip the bill

First call is to your insurance company.
Insurance will pay for the tree removal if it lands on your home.

Thanks bud. I’ll call them. First time I’ve ever had to do that

Things I learned when this happened to me…(but always call YOUR insurance cause you’ll probably get 100 different answers by 100 different people who went throu this)

    1) Insurance did NOT cover the tree removal. We fought hard with them but they stated that this was a “gray” area…BS, this should be black and white. Anyways, after they paid for the roof we dropped them.

    2) If you do it yourself, any future damage IS covered under the insurance.

    3) If the tree takes out the power line, your local power company will remove the trees for free, up until the power threat is gone. I learned this when the second tree fell on my neighbors house. Saved me $1000’s.

4)take pics and lots of them.

Sorry this happened but at least you’ll hopefully get a new roof…for free!

Tell them Steve Albright referred you waytogo (he’s an employee of mine that used to work for them)

If there’s no roof damage ask what you would pay out of pocket instead of making a claim.

Our insurance company would cover the removal, but our cost to remove ($1200) didn’t hit our “wind” deductible, so we didn’t end up filing a claim.

Ours was dangling in a power line, but it was the drop to our house, so Xcel wouldn’t remove it (it’s only 240V, the guy told me). Amazingly, the power line actually supported most of the weight, and only a few shingles were damaged.

The limb that fell is barely dangling off another limb. My guess is 80 to 90 ft long. 2.5 ft thick where it broke and about 8 to 10 inch round just over the peak of my roof.
I just got home from work, way worse then I expected. Way bigger then the pictures look. A limb like this could go about 5000 lbs i bet

You could try Tlg tree service out of Stacy. He took a tree down for me and was really good to work with and reasonably priced.
