I hope this doesnt get the thread kicked off and me booted off of IDO,but if it happens,so be it, I really dont care.

weather terrorists, good grimy gopher guts!!! phrigging tards out there swooping their arms showing you an entire area will be buried in snow so deep Sasquatch will be dragging old Ned through the lowest depths of snow.
not only that, they drive around in their “storm chaser vehicles’ as if they are special built to drive through the worst that even Chuck frigging Norris could dream up and throw at them, cheesenrice get a life !!!

they tell you, dont go out, dress warm, pack a months worth of meals in the trunk, fill the tank with gas so if you get cold you can light’er up and stay warm!!

me?? look out the window, stick my nose out the door, hhhmm, cold out?? guess I will dress warm today, snow over the roof?? guess I will stay home.
raining?? uh oh,flood of the century, guess I will take the boat to work with me so I can get home, might do some fishing while I am at.

WTF happened to using the brain you were given to sort this sh!t out???
close school because snow is going to be over an inch?? give me a break, our school bus pushed snow with the bumper going to school and it never got cancelled because conditions were too tough and that aint no damn lie.

oh,but if we can save one child or life!!! ya,I get it,but folks, life is the survival of the fittest, here or in any part of the world regardless of conditions.

so,to end this with a cheery note, here ya go.

Over yonder here in Wisconsin they predicted snow to start around 12-1 pm well finally started around 5:30 maybe have a half inch at 8 pm. They started at 6-12 inches now down to 4-6. Was much better forecasting when they did not have all this computer modeling, but yet they can predict 10 years or more down the road.

Same here Tom. It did start about 3 for us but it’s nothing. They were talking 10″ as of this morning. Maybe it’ll come tonight or tomorrow morning? Seems a little wimpy.

What a horrible time to be alive when they can predict the future a week in advance buy it might be off by a few hours or inches.

    Iowaboy? Feeling your oats??

I’m sure that’s an old iowa saying that lost something in its translation as it crossed the border.

I agree, the media hype is way out there, I have fallen victim to them more then once, changing or altering my plans, only for it to be a nice day.I believe nothing more then a day ahead, use common sense. Grocery stores packed, really, not many places in Minnesota where you would be more then 2 days out from some convenience store. Its just crazy, by the way, here on the north end of Leech, maybe 2″ could change by tomorrow, we’ll see

gotcha tbro,we are on the same page and just having fun,or so I hope.

plain English, yep,I speak it plenty, too much of the old days have gotten pushed out of the way with modern, well, crap.

riding on the same tracks,= thinking along with my line of thought.

splinter in my eye and two by twelve in your own = judging me when you are the last one on earth to be judging anyone.

    feeling my oats = feeling good,up for a fight,good time,etc.

giving my life for another = first, you have to understand that crap happens and all of the laws, safety factors, child safety seats, helmets, blah blah blah are all feel good things that satisfy,,,going to stop here as it would take too many pages and many still wouldnt grasp the concept that life is only for a little while regardless, study for another day.
so with that,if I saw you,or anyone in harms way,I have lived a full life and without hesitation would jump to push/knock/shove you out of harms way so that you may live on.

now why on earth would I do that you ask??? simple, your life is more important to me than my own.

I’m pissed. I got stuck thinking I can handle this big snowfall and I got hung up in my SUV.

Then again those commercials aren’t real when it comes to snowplow ridges higher than the hood that’s been covered by fresh snow. doah
I gotta get another old 1 ton. That way I can know how hard to hit it <img src=”//www.in-depthoutdoors.com/wp-content/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif”

I love how they hedge their bets on Wednesday on what it’s going to do Friday but tell you in complete confidence that global warming will kill you in 20 years or less.

Well in my area other than the wind the storm looks to be mostly over. The area reports say we received around 4-5” of snow. That’s just a little less than the 12-15” they were forecasting 2-3 days prior to the storm. This morning my Weather Terrorist came on and said “ oh our projections were off – we didn’t account for the DRY SLOT EFFECT “ what ever the hell that is. That’s the first time I’ve heard that one. Oh well life goes on and I had to snowblow far less snow. End of Rant

Sheldon ( Iowaboy ) don’t worry one bit about your post. The day they boot you off this site for a post like yours is the day myself and I’m sure many others will no longer bother using it. If you ran for president you would get my vote any day – a good old farm boy is probably what this country could use right about now !!!

We got about 5″ here but what griped me was the constant reporting that some weather phenomenon was going to deliver all sorts of freezing drizzle with up to 1″ of ice on top of the snow over night. I blew the snow at 5:30 this morning and found no ice on it. No wind either.

Weather reporting has gotten to a point where it just pi$$es me off. I don’t know why they find the need to sensationalize everything. If I was a parent with kids in school I’d have been one seriously upset person when the schools reacted to all this snake oil and closed the schools for the day when it didn’t really see much of any snow that would warrant such a move until the school day would have been done. I wonder how many kids took advantage of the day off and went skiing?

Whatever the hell The Dry Slot is, you know it can’t be good.

Let’s use it in a sample sentence.

    Me: Anybody seen Eelpoutguy lately?

Dishwater: Umm, he’ll be laid up for a while. Doctor said he got the ol Dry Slot. It’s bad.

Looks to be about 3-4″ here in Princeton. Light, easy stuff to plow and shovel. Very pretty out this morning. Thats about to change as the wind started picking up around 8:30 or 9 this morning.

If the wind hits the 30-40 mph range they talk about it will be white out conditions with this stuff blowing.
