    Great segway Carver!

Saturday morning I had the opportunity to meet with the new Lock Master at L&D #3 ON Dam #3.

I snapped off 50 or so photos on the over cast morning and about a minute of video of the turbulent water just behind the rollers directly below me. I’ve fished outside of the 150′ restricted area many times and the water never looked like it does when your looking right at it.
Tim Tabor the LM was telling me they have completed studies on that water. Because it’s so aerated a 100 hp motor wouldn’t push a person to safety.

Anyway, here’s a few captures from about 9:30 Saturday morning. Know anyone?

Nice photos Brian. I was on the upstream side Saturday, but not until probably 130 in afternoon.

I watched a guy come up through the rollers, and back down through the rollers one day last year. He looked like it wasn’t his first time!

Water is an amazing force of nature!

First guy is there because his neighbor’s cousins brother in law caught fish there last year. The rest are there because the first guy is there. grin

BK is there because……..well thats where the Hamms is cooling in the water.

Current seams One. Fish sit in the slower moving water and snap up stunned, disorinted bait that goes by.

That and once a rod is bent (no matter what size fish) many people think that’s were the fish are at and move over to that area.

There are times I wish everyone in the dam area had an underwater camera. It’s just amazing to see how many fish are “carpeting” these and other areas although there are dead spots of course. Now if they would just bite dammit!

Many locals never go up to the dam. No reason to fish with that many boats when there’s other good fishing locations away from the crowds. On the other hand, the people that only have a short time to fish go back to where they caught some last year because they just don’t have the time to “find them”.

Although there’s always a few, “you’re fishing too close to me” or “I was here first” issues, it’s amazing to me how well folks get along and enjoy the water and the pleasure of fishing early spring each year.

Dutch, I found what I was looking for at Bay City Liquor Store.
