I have a dakota lithium battery but just wondering if the energized outdoors batteries are just as good?

i talked to a staff member of theirs and he told me that the energized outdoor batteries were built for cold and outdoor use, where the dakota batteries were built for motorized wheel chair use originally. they are supposed to hold a 12.5+ V charge longer. I just got one in the mail today actually so I am excited to see how it compares, as I’ve been using a Dakota for the last 3 years now.

Lol. Dakota’s operating range is -20F to +120F. They are both the same.
Just stating what I was told, I see they both run the same temperature ranges, but was told the Energized was built to maintain a longer voltage charge in the colder temps.
Energized buys batteries made in China, Dakota manufactures them in North Dakota from Chinese components. I would be curious to see the specs to confirm that.
November 14, 2018 at 8:09 am #1809827They are probably the same battery, different name on them. The same guy in China makes them.
Where were you able to find that information? I just did a quick search and couldnt find those answers other than Dakota is assembled in the US.
Where they were built or assembled doesnt really prove your previous point though.
November 14, 2018 at 10:44 am #1809897I own the 12v 10a by Energized Outdoors. Seems to work fine but I also haven’t given it a full day test in weather that is below 32f. Slightly worried that my panoptix ice will not last a full day at 100% brightness.
Would like to hear the differences from others if you’ve tried both.

ec1 you will get anywhere from 8-11 hours on both running wide open.
If you fish for more time than that…bring a second one.November 14, 2018 at 12:13 pm #1809930What does everyone do over summer to keep these 12v 9-10amp batteries working from year to year? Do you put them on trickle charger or just charge periodically? I seem to have problems getting more than a season out of mine.

If I remember, I think the drain tests I ran on the clean republic 10ah (bamboo version) was identical, within 5% of listed capacity. Both should provide similar performance.

Lithium battery would require even less maintenance. I wouldn’t put a trickle charger on them. Just charge every now and then.
I’ve picked up orders from Dakota battery’s grand forks manufacturing plant. My point was, I’d like to see some sort of data that they are made to hold a better charge that dakota batteries. I’m sure energized outdoors sells a good battery, I’m just not a fan of marketing hype.
Weasel88Posts: 2November 14, 2018 at 9:36 pm #1810105A little off topic….but how does the Noqua 10Ah compare to these 2 batteries? I have one for my kayak. I’m just trying to figure out if it’ll work out for my ice hut or if I should be looking at one of these two.

Just disable the panoptix transmission and you’ll save the juice without the hassle.

(my first post on the forum)From what I could find out about the Noqua, it’s a regular lithium ion, while the Dakota and Energized Outdoors ones are LiFePO4, which are supposed to be better in the cold.
Mark RasmussenPosts: 51November 15, 2018 at 9:08 am #1810193I’m just getting into the lithium game… I got a nocqua this past spring for my kayak at well. I like the weight savings. Question – can the charger I have for an Energized Outdoors battery work for a Dakota Lithium battery? Thinking about ordering a Dakota as well.

Sure. They are both lifepo4 batteries.
MetermanPosts: 21November 17, 2018 at 9:30 am #1810759I just received two of the Energized Outdoors 12.8 V 10 AH LiFePO4 lithium ion batteriers and GC60-12F4 Chargers. I have had the charger on the battery for 2+ days and the green LED charge indicators are continuously cycling through the 25-50-75-100% positions. Is this telling me the batteries are fully charged or do I have an issue?
Aaron DrierPosts: 61November 22, 2018 at 5:08 pm #1812001Having the same thing going on, but only with one of the batteries.
