I imagine you feel about 12 inches taller right now. Partially from the loss of the tremendous weight on your shoulders the last few years, but more so you should feel incredibly proud of what you did. Stand tall today Randy, you deserve it.

Well done Randy, you set a great example for those close to you and also all of us here. Your parents raised you well and you showed your gratitude and how important they were right to the end.
Your dad and family will be in my prayers.

Thanks everyone! So many people here that have grown close, became awesome friends, and share so much. But I need to repeat this. Its not what I did, its what WE did. A bridge doesn’t carry a load without the solid foundation and all the supporting members.
February 28, 2025 at 8:50 am #2320551Sorry for your loss Randy I know that was probably the hardest thing to go through and to do it twice is unreal. I am however glad for you and your dad as now you can both rest. Heal up bud and we can wet a line soon like we talked.

I hope my parents, who are still living vibrant independent lives in their 80s, go quickly and without suffering when their time comes. But if their last days are drawn-out and hard, I hope to be half the son that you’ve been, Randy.
My deepest condolences. You’ve done good, my friend – now you all can get rest and be at peace.

February 28, 2025 at 10:33 am #2320608Sincerest condolences Randy. You have gone above and beyond to be the son we all hope to be and or have.
Prayers out to you.February 28, 2025 at 10:38 am #2320610You really are a special son and I envy the relationship you had with your dad. My dad is still around at 95 but there is not anywhere near the relationship you were fortunate to have. Your situation though unfortunate and difficult at the end illustrates how a father and son should be and feel about each other. Well done and my condolences.

I wasn’t attempting to diminish anyone’s input, however, you were the one taking the brunt of it. You were the one on the front lines everyday. You were the one changing the diapers and cleaning up the messes and keeping him from burning down the house…and…and…and… Most can’t even imagine what you went through. I was in elementary school when my grandpa went through the same stuff, and fully remember my mom and her brothers and sisters taking turns every night watching him for over a year. It was a feat with 5 people to take turns let alone one person.
Not that it was ever low, however my respect for you and your family and anyone else involved in your parents’ care has skyrocketed. I hope you can take care of yourself now and give yourself the break and self care that you deserve.
February 28, 2025 at 1:07 pm #2320669Randy, 1st my sincere condolences to you and your family. You have taken a very difficult situation and fulfilled it with Love and Pride. Your parents were blessed with a loving son.

x2. I couldn’t find the right words, so I’ll just emphasize what TL said so well. Especially the bold parts.

Even when you’re expecting these things it’s a tough life changing process to go through.February 28, 2025 at 6:23 pm #2320768Randy, even if you had some help, you’ve proved to many that a son (or daughter) can sacrifice their time and basically their life to care for a loved one. That’s a gift I hope to be able to give someday as well. None of us look forward to those end times, but you can be proud for the rest of your life knowing you stepped up and did your best for them.
Your parents souls and all your family will be in my families prayers.February 28, 2025 at 6:31 pm #2320771My condolences to you and your family Randy.
You definitely deserve some time to rest and take care of yourself.
February 28, 2025 at 8:44 pm #2320803Condolences Randy. You are a model son, and there’s no doubt your parents are proud
