Even though the Vikes are my team, I’ve never been a Bears hater. I love the fact that I got to watch Walter Payton twice a year; He was such a great player. I was really into The ’86 Super Bowl Shuffle Team and the whole vibe. Then the SNL Da Bears skits. I love Da Bears, but I haven’t paid much attention to them in the last decade or so because they pretty much sucked. I didn’t pay much attention to them this year until they played the Vikes on Sunday, and I was super impressed with Caleb William’s talent. The Bears got themselves a franchise QB if he can remain healthy. He can pitch the rock and is super elusive. I can’t wait to see how he does against the Lions today.

Might we even get to witness a Lions upset? Maybe the third time is the charm for ole’ Caleb against the NFC North. Da Bears!

We should be looking at another off season of cleaning house. It will never end until ownership changes.

Caleb definitely is looking like everything as advertised and then some, and we’re just scratching the surface. That’s because, only the Bears would try to take a talent like him and make him their “system” guy, vs. playing to his talents. Almost did that with Shane Waldron til we came to our senses and canned him. I like the new OC, Thomas Brown and how he’s played to Caleb’s strengths and let him play much freer these last two games against the Packers and Vikes. But we need to get rid of Eberflus. Hopefully tomorrow (assuming Lions beat us), and let Brown be the HC for rest of season as a try out. Or hire an offensive minded HC for next season who can work closely with Caleb and bring him along, work through the inevitable rookie/year 2 mistakes and maximize his potential long term.

But…we are the Bears. We’ll f@#$ it up somehow!

Williams made some very impressive plays against the Vikings for sure. That one scramble play where he was almost sacked and looked like he was just going to throw it out of bounds but made a completion for a first down?! Get outta here. THat was an athletic play and fun to watch.

BP – I was the same as you when I was little. I idolized Walter Payton and Jimmy Mac! I wrote Sweetness a fan letter in 2nd grade and believe it or not got a response back – likely from his publicist’s office but it was a signed letter, a picture of him sitting on the hood of his Lamborghini parked on Soldier Field and an autographed professional game photo of him. I still have that picture but I was so young that I didn’t know to take care of it, even colored on it a little with marker rotflol

My fandom ceded when sweetness left the game and Jimmy Mac was traded, but because the Bears weren’t competitive for a long stretch after that, I didn’t hate them – and 100% of my NFC Central (at that time) animosity was focused on Green Bay. But now, having been the opposing fan at both Stadiums – I will say I have zero respect for the Bears or their organization. The fans were idiots at soldier (at least the ones in my section) and I was pretty much molested trying to get out of there after the game. Green Bay, in contrast, was a football love fest and everyone had an awesome time together. Still hate the packers as a rival but love that we get share a division and rivalry with those guys and I’d go back to Lambeau in a heartbeat.

Long post, I know. Honestly, I want the Vikes to win the division but we haven’t earned it and are not the better team. I don’t want to see the Bears rewarded in any way for terrible management, coaching and decision making. Plus, I actually think the whole Detroit thing is pretty cool. It bugs me that they’re likely going to win an Super Bowl before us, but that town needs a winner. So I’ll be the lone Vikings fan today saying GO LIONS!

I agree, that was a floater to a running back along the sideline that I thought was going out of bounds too.

He and the Bears have played better the past two weeks against Green Bay and Minnesota. But they still lost both in close games. Caleb is starting to look like a top pick but a bigger sample size is needed.

I think the late Denny Green stated it best though. They are who we thought they were. jester

Da Bears haven’t done themselves any favors in this game. 2 first downs in a half.
They’ve won the last 3 Thanksgiving day meetings but I think Detroit ain’t looking back.

Caleb made a foolish play, taking that hit when it looked like he just could have gone out of bounds.

Caleb has some learning to do alright, but they’re inching closer. I am rooting for the Lions but this is more entertaining and closer than many would’ve thought.

What a bunch of idiots. How do you mismanage 35 seconds so bad with a timeout left. Should have taken it immediately after the sack.

That was about as incompetent a way to end a game as I’ll ever see. It was a total offensive team breakdown from coaches to players.

What a disaster at the end there. Didn’t even give the kicker a chance. That one is on the coach.

The Bears are the NFC’s version of the Browns for the last decade.

I would be surprised if Eberflus has a job tomorrow. It has been brewing for quite awhile but the mismanagement at the end of the game today should be the nail in the coffin.

Same problem since the 80’s. McCaskey.
When the owner’s family is a looser, the team is a looser. They get 1 or two great players and think that’s all they need.

The 86 team was exactly like that Charlie Shean baseball movie. They had the perfect combination of misfits and Walter Payton.

Da Bears doing Da Bears things – can’t make it up how bad of shape this team is in – on SO MANY LEVELS. Comical. It’s amazing they’ve almost won against good teams the last three weeks. Some good management and coaching would go a LONG WAY with this group.

Coach doubled down in post game interview.

“To me it’s — I think we handled it the right way, I do believe that you just rerack the play, get it in bounds and call timeout, and that’s why we held it and didn’t work out the way we wanted it to.”

Either President/CEO Kevin Warren doesn’t have the power to fire him midseason, or Eberflus has compromising pictures of him. The game was bad enough to leave him in Detroit, but those comments are even worse. Bears gonna Bears I guess.
