I agree that thing is too big and impractical the way it’s set-up. If it was a toy hauler it would be a completely different story.

I’m sure he’s cutting in more holes himself though. It’s hard to trust someone else to just put them in anywhere. I did all of my own and glad I did.

Here’s our big shack. It’s a 27’+2′ vee with one slide out and a toy hauler door. Works awesome on 15″+ of ice. Less than that I leave it on shore as base camp and take the toys out to fish waytogo

We use it every month of the year. I’ve spent well over 30 nights in it since we got in in March.

It’s BIG, but not crazy big lol

Totally custom or a specific brand?

How much propane that thing going to burn through? two heaters and a couple twenty or thirty pounders but I’m guessing that’s the least of his worries.

Looks like a nice shack B-Man!

It’s a custom Ice Castle, but somewhat similar interior layout as a Northland Palace model with some tweaks and custom frame size.

It weighs around 8,000 pounds. I’ve seen guys with bigger shacks and one tons on less, but 15″ is minimum for me (mainly to avoid flooding over time).

For heat, my shack sucks through the propane faster than I like.

To overcome it, I installed a forced air vented diesel cab heater. That thing is AWESOME!

Diesel is sooooo much easier to get, cheaper, and it’s more efficient as well. I can heat my shack for 24 hours on the lake with just 1-2.5 gallons of diesel (depending on temps and wind).

It kept my shack toasty in -30 temps a couple weeks ago and never skipped a beat.

The fuel cell is mounted on the outside of the shack so no smells or spills can happen inside.

I love it and will never own a shack without one mrgreen

I love my Ice Castle 8×21’. It’s on my 40 acres up north and since my purchase in October I’ve spent 50/50 time between it and my house in Milwaukee. It’s a wonderful space for two adults who “like” each other. Mine is also an extreme RV and is so versatile. I could hook it up and go anywhere, any time of year…say Yellowstone, or Big Bend, TX or….Try to do that with your cabin. Oh ye, I almost forgot, I can lower it onto a frozen lake and fish out of it morning moon and night without leaving my spot.

You’d be better off putting your money towards a Snobear instead of this IMO…pry catch 5x the fish, and be a heck of a lot safer too

My friend took his two kids to Yellowstone last year and they slept in his iceshack the entire time and stayed at campsites.
