Still waiting for first ice in Indiana.
I’m going to try to run either no bait jigs or plastics for the year.
What plastics for panfish seem to be producing so far on the ice this year?
Thanks in advance.

I’ve got some Y-fry and Gamma Scud from Eurotackle to try out.
My first two got to plastics are the Probe or mustache by VMC… each have their differences.. the probe works best presented horizontal !!
But my first go to panfish bait is not the plastic but the Bullfly Hair Jig…
also by VMC… there are a pile of bugs in the water.. especially early and late in the season…
Good Luck out there !!!
I’m with you… no bait preference !!
I’ve been using Panfish Plastics for a few years now.
Their Chigger Fry is my go to plastic in most situations.
I’ve had great luck with various plastic’s from Kenders outdoors. I really like the Chigger Fry and the Twin tail

I couldn’t agree more on the tungsten bullfly. That thing tipped with spikes is great for any type of panfish.
Not so much a plastic as a jig trailer but it’s out-catching anything else I’ve used, but the silkie jig trailer is $$. Some of the best action I’ve seen.
B-y baits are as good as they get! The mudbug is my favorite.
Love my b-y plastics

Those look nice!
Thanks Dave I’ve seen those VMC bullfly, those look killer.
I’ve been working tying some ice flys to try out. I have something similar to the bullfly.
Thanks everyone for the responses I’ll look into them!

I do notice that these really perform much better then presented horizontal too !! they get a lot of looks when in the vertical position…but get hit a lot more horizontal !!
And I run them plain… no meat… most of the time… I like to run and gun looking for active fish… but if forced to sit and tease the fish to bite.. i’ll hunker down and add meat…
Good Luck out there !!

What materials did you use to tie that and make the little legs out the back? That looks great!
