Figure the thread below is from last year and not many people including myself look at old reports too often

I will be up July 9-16 on Pine Pt. Last year this time the mayflies were the worst I’ve seen in my entire life. Any current mayfly reports?

Also will be willing to share fishing reports. PM me or post here if you want

coworker was up there over last weekend. Big time bug hatch. All I know is he was staying on the south side.

I can attest to big time bug hatch on both leech and winnie. Need multiple presentations tied up to get a pod to bite. Night time trolling had been the best

I’d scan 18-24’ areas. Troll a rap on lead core while doing it

Following…headed to the south end 7/15 – 7/22. Sounds about right with timing and bug hatches

Was slow for me over the 4th. Didn’t fish too hard as we were enjoying family time, but definitely was marking the hatch

Headed up to the South shore this weekend for a week, have the walleyes digested the bugs yet or are they still hatching? Any words on the bite, I’m assuming the usual July thing..will try and post when I’m up there.

I haven’t seen much for mayflies so that has been good. The bite is pretty tough overall. Picking up a walleye here and there. The best we have done is 10 – 15 ft pulling Shad raps. There were some good night time trolling reports from our resort but the one night we stayed up late and tried it we only caught one and had two short strikes that came off. I used to fish after dark quite a bit but just don’t enjoy it as much as I used to. We have little kids and been a lot of family time this week too. Unfortunately it has not been beach weather like we normally have this time of year. Spinners and crawlers didn’t really do much for us which is odd. The walleyes we caught were fat and healthy and spitting up lots of leeches and crawfish. Got to see some friends and had a good time.

Weather was tough on the south side, only decent day was Tuesday. Tough bite, 1 20 incher on a chrome and blue Husky Jerk out on Huddles Reef. Marked plenty of fish, just no eaters. Nothing on harnesses or power corking with leeches.

Heading up for a day trip this Saturday. Planning to take out the father in law and future brother in law.

Has the bite still been slow with this heat the past handful of days? Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Family is up on vacation in the Hackensack area. Daughter and myself went out on leech Tuesday night for a couple hours. After waiting out some storms, got on the water about 930. We had pretty good action trolling a SR7 and shad dancer in 10fow on sand flats. Went back out Wednesday early afternoon, more of a swimming trip, but did check out the deeper edge of the mokey reef area in the 20ish fow. Marked a fair amount of fish so pulled lead through them for about 20 minutes and picked one up. Prolly could have caught more of kept fishing but at mid 80s and no wind the water sure felt nice!

And if the walleye aren’t going, the crappies have been cooperative on area lakes. Fishing cabbage and either trolling or fan casting jigs and plastics.
