Seems like the Fish Flies came early his year and barely got a reprieve and now May Flies are hatching already. They were thick on the NE shore last night.

If memory serves we “ should “ get a break from the bug hatches for awhile after the Mayflies wrap up. Correct?

I really hope you are correct, but the last couple years seems like the hatch into July.

I saw the big sheets of them floating Sunday. Are they the big 747’s?

I did see big clouds on sonar on the north end mud working their way up yesterday morning. I guess that is what they were.

Mojo- did it affect the bite out there? I’d thing they would be gorging themselves

What is the current hatch? Mayflies? Sounds like spinner/crawler time on the mud but man I hate when the boat is covered in em.

Any updates on hatch from today? Was hoping to get out there tomorrow.

The live bait bite was slow. When I switched to crank baits it improved.

Gotcha, thanks. Makes sense, can’t be tempted into eating live bait when full, but cranks will still get that reaction bite out of em I reckon

You would think so, but those walleye are anorexic. That’s how they stay so skinny, just let all that food float and fly away!

Lol, here we go… Don’t you know there are no skinny walleyes in Mille lacs? That’s how fish are supposed to look! It’s summertime!

All the walleyes we caught last weekend were very healthy looking. None that I thought were actually skinny.

There have been many occasions on ML when we have caught walleyes and been shocked by how bad and malnourished they looked. Not every, but a lot! Then again, I’m pretty spoiled by the pool 2 fatties I normally catch… peace

was driving my boat from Garrison to Malmo last night after the fireworks and as we got close to Malmo I ran into a huge hatch, could hardly see 10 feet ahead

Has that hatch died off or are they still bad? Thinking of taking my nephew out smallie chasing but not if the bug hoards are out.
