First off I just found these forms and website and I am very excited for it. Alot of knowledge being passed around in these forms. Anyways I just watched a fishing show where they were nailing a Brown Trout on the south end of lake Superior. I would love to go after these guys in spring with my old man I just have never fished lake Superior. My main questions would be what time in spring time is a good time to go? Does anybody have a bay or a area that they would recommend. I read something that said it’s pretty good from superior to Ashland. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Although I’ve never been there myself, the Ashland/Bayfield area is where you catch the majority of your browns. From what I understand, ice off to about the end of May is best.

Actually, ice fishing is really good out there too. Now would be a good time.

We set up in 30′ in Ashland area. If you are getting schools of smelt coming through the browns will follow. Tip ups with long florocarbon leaders work well 15′ down. The browns tend to come through about in that range. Jigging spoons for your third line will have you covered. You never know what you will catch!
