so now that we’re living up north full time I’d like to redo my driveway. It’s class 5 now but I’m tired of sand getting in the house. I’ve heard that the crushed granite is pretty nice & relatively dust free.

    Anyone use it?

    We use it up north.

Love it. Have a level surface and pack it down.

We’ve had class 5, con-bit (crushed concrete), and -3/4 granite. Much prefer the granite. -3/4 is 3/4″ and under and packs well and stays in place. Our current place needs it too, but haven’t wanted to spend the money yet. The class 5 we have tracks in like you say, and washes out every time it rains.

Do you get tire cutters with crushed granite? That would be my only worry.

From what I’ve learned in my short time researching is thats not an issue.
It looks pretty nice and blacktop or concrete would look out of place in our setting.

Anyone have any contacts for this in Mpls? Quotes I’ve been getting are 2x what they were last year.

Just a small 17×17 area, thinking of shoveling it myself. Anyone taken on the task before? Worth it?

Timely thread for me as well, thx for info.

I agree with Joe. 3/4- would be the way to go. Crushed/recycled bituminous works well too, but if not compacted tight and without enough oil content, it could end up like Cl. 5 material.

I’m gonna line up a few guys to come out and do some planning and bidding.

I’ll post here what I learn.

We had one cut tire in ten years on my wife’s car. It can happen. Just don’t think it’s overly common.
