I had the pleasure of meeting up with Mr. JROD on Thursday afternoon to fish one of his favorite Croix breaks. A great day to be out on the ice…except for a little rain.
We drove a was out on the ice and then hiked the rest of the way. The snow was sticky and although my wife says walking through snow with sorrels on isn’t GOOD exercise, I FELT it was exercise!
Once we were set up on JROD’s seceret spot, he told me he forgot his heater…but, because it was so darn (can I say this) spring like out…we never needed it.
I was using a plain jigging rap and a tear drop with a fathead on the other rod. JROD was usning a rattlen spoon with a fathead.
We had a very short run of fish through the holes that night. True to my form JROD caught the first, the most and the biggest fish that night. Unforunatly they were just under the keeper size. But fishing a differant spot with someone you met on IDA.com more than made up for the lenght of the fish….if fact, I lost track of time and got a call from my wife wondering …let’s see, how did she put it? “Are the fish going to cook supper for you tonight?…I’m going to bed!” Herb, is there room for two at your location?
Thanks for sharing JROD! I doubt I’ll get back with you on ice again this year….but we’ll have to nail ’em this spring…right about the time the sun sets over the hills!
Ps…I’m glad you didn’t see my “Product Reveiw” until after we went fishing!
