Anybody know what the USGS was up to on the Croix on Monday? I saw them launching in Hudson at 6:30AM and they were pulling out around 4:30PM or so. Just wondering what they might be studying now.

What do they normally patrol for, do the put out nets and see what they get? Just curious with what is going on with the river since I’m out there so much.

August 10, 2010 at 10:56 pm #892304Jon, it seems one of us may be confused. USGS (United States Geological Survey) seems more environmental than anything. Their website seems like they do biological research but I couldn’t find anything on the St. Croix, that’s why I was asking if anyone else had heard or seen anyting. The boats they had were flat bottoms with platforms in front and lights for shining into the water. Looked like maybe for shocking or something.
