    Divers search for snowmobiler

    HUDSON, Wis. – Dive teams are searching for a man who went into the St. Croix River on a snowmobile.

    Dive teams were out on the river near North Hudson this morning searching an open patch of water on the river.

    The missing snowmobiler was riding near another snowmobiler when they both went into the at around 4 a.m. The other snowmobiler managed to get out of the water.

    KSTP will keep you updated on this search as information becomes available.

    So much for water skimming on the St Croix…

    As Susuki says…the only safe ice is in a Windsor/7.

    How many lives do we lose on an annual basis on the Croix? Between the summer night life and the ice, she’s been taking a few quite consistantly it seems.

    What a stupid stupid senseless death. Sledding at 4am on the Croix? I heard it was in front of the dam. wtf

    Update:

    Body of missing snowmobiler recovered from St. Croix River

    HUDSON, Wis. – Authorities have recovered the body of a snowmobiler who drove into the St. Croix river.
    The missing man was with a friend riding snowmobiles on the frozen river when they both fell into an open patch of water near North Hudson around 4 a.m. Thursday. The friend managed to get out of the water and attempted, but failed, to save the other driver.

    Divers began searching the water before sunrise. They managed to recover his body shortly after 1 p.m.

    The snowmobiler who got out of the water is now recovering at the hospital.

    Authorities say the recent above-freezing weather has made the rivers very dangerous for snowmobilers.

    Eerie.
    Before I had the boat that was one of my favorite Spring shore fishing spots. Pulled many a nice smallie off the bank they pulled the sled up. Local guy from what I understand. What were they doing near open water @ 4AM?
