It was a great night on the river as far as the weather goes but still enough boats (I remember why I don’t fish Fri. or Sat. nights now). Things finally started to pick up for me, caught a nice fat 18″ from a community hole right away. Made a couple more passes and nothing so I went to a lesser known spot and tied into a school of saugers but none over 10″. Moved out a little deeper and picked up a 16″ eye. Missed a few more than I should have, I was rigging with live bait and the depths varied from 17′ to 28′. At least I finally got a couple for the pan.

The recreational traffic can sure add another dimension to the fishing. But there’s nothing like the Scenic St. Croix!

Watched that orange strawberry moon slip through the tree branches as it crept up last night about 11:15 p.m. over black bass point. Unforgetable.
Seems like the red part of the sunset goes all the way up to the horizon below the north star (do not use the other word). The dipper is almost directly overhead.
Anyone see the big white satelite about 10 p.m. go west to east? Wondering if that’s the new commercial space station connection that flies @ 155 miles.
Heard a loud ker-plunk later in the night. Assuming either one of those flatheads or and really big turtle.
Oh yeah, the fish are feeding, too.
