i decided to try out the night bite for my first time this year today, mainly due to the intense heat during the day and reading about all the catfish luck. lately the shore has been crowed with families and solo fishermen, so me and my friend were pleasantly surprised to find the willow river dam empty. that lasted a whole 30 minutes before a couple came and practically sat on top of us and started fishing. now, i dont mind sharing the shore, but when youre the only ones there with miles of shoreline open is it that hard to move? 2 more families showed and sat on top of us, with only one of the twelve people that came asking where our lines were so they wouldnt cross them. Atleast the rock and smallmouth bass were hitting, with an occassional ski erupting on the surface, decent fishing once they all left

My favorite “Sharing the Spot” story…..And I’ve got MANY was a few years ago when I was fishing a very small isolated hump. Usually not big enough for 2 boats unless your fishing together. A guy pulls up with kids in the boat wearing swimsuits. Throws out the anchor and tosses 2 tubes in the water 50 feet from me. Kids jump out, and he cracks open a cold one. hollers over to me…..Nice day huh!!?? No comment was needed especially since he had kids in the water…..Sometimes you just can’t reason with dumB!! LOL!!
May 25, 2010 at 12:52 pm #874749Over the weekend while fishing panfish with my son and one of his buddy’s we had a boat pull in so close Alex was unable to cast without landing his bait in the other boat. We were anchored up catching crappies and gills, Alex asked what if I hit them, I told him to set the hook
Got me thinking, is this something that people grew up learning from their parents and they just feel that is how it is or is it really just people that have no common courtesy? Either way, its very frustratingjakefroyumPosts: 94May 25, 2010 at 1:01 pm #874757This one was a bit funny. I was staying at a resort on a mid size pretty much featureless lake. I rented a boat and went out about 5 am the first morning and picked a spot completly at random. I didn’t even have a depthfinder except for my jig. I was the only boat out there. In about an hour and a half I was surrounded by about 10 boats. I suppose they all thought I knew what I was doing. I’m sure this one has happend to everyone.
May 25, 2010 at 1:50 pm #874772A couple of years ago I was on a small lake near Longville and the crappies were on a rampage in big reed point. These were nice 10 to 14 inchers. This guy pulls up in a big old pontoon, not ten feet from us and proceeds to throw over the anchor. The anchor being a big brick attached to a hunk of chain.
Ka-Splash, RATTLE, RATTLE, CRASH!
Crappie fishing done. We used the trolling motor and cruised around to the other side of the reed bed and start to catch fish. Now this genius sees us and pulls up the anchor, putts around to our side and repeats the procedure.
This went on all evening. I never did see him pull in a single fish. We finally caught enough and left. Saw him the next day and he was just wiggling like a puppy when he saw us. “Hey, you guys were really on em last night. What were you using?” We told him it was a secret lure being developed for Lindy Little Joe and to watch the shelves for it next spring. I gotta think he’s still waiting for it.
May 25, 2010 at 3:51 pm #874801Being rude or inconsiderate has no boundrys. I’ve been crowded off fishing spots from SD to northern WI. These schmucks have no preference for bank or boat fishing, I’ve been had by the best. Somehow they can tell that I’m just a kind and forgiving person jerr
maybe there is something to all that sensitivity training I had to go thru while I was in the workforce
May 26, 2010 at 8:13 pm #875318Take an old guy my age along after you’ve offered him thirds on the pork and beans. If you’re not already upwind, might try re-anchoring there yourself. (NOTE: your own boat handling skill may affect your personal comfort level considerably throughout your outing!)
May 26, 2010 at 9:30 pm #875353Karma does a pretty good job of catching up to these people. Or maybe it already has and they are just trying to pass along some of their misery?
