I saw a couple boats around the swing bridge last Saturday. Just wondering if anyone here was one of the boats. Were the crappies biting? What type of water temps were you getting?

I got some in my spot no where near there , was drifting down wisconsin shoreline using small split shot& crappies minnows in 5-10 fow..
47-48 temps.
Most were small in the 9-10″ range, was a nice change after a terrible season out there on the ice.
MIght go back out on thursday morning and try up river farther.April 13, 2010 at 5:06 pm #863443I was out both Sat and Sun, slow. I’m thinking a couple more degrees water temp? By the weekend with this front gone thru?

April 23, 2010 at 3:11 pm #866238So anyone doing good with the crappies? I was out again last weekend south of the Kinni, having a heck of time finding them. Not in the usual haunts and not yet in the shallows? Good news is the smallies kept us entertained hitting the crappies rigs, those guys are sure little scrappers! CZ
April 23, 2010 at 4:10 pm #866259I see. The smallies “kept” you entertained therefore you must have had a reasonable expectation of continuing to catch them which translates into pursuit which is illegal this time of year. How do you like that deduction mister? Or should I say mister poacher.

April 24, 2010 at 2:27 pm #866425Downstream from Prescott smallies! Does that count? Where’s my regs, darn it. I said crappies rigs, didn’t I? Seriously, they were hitting slips as we worked the shoreline and structure for crappies, what’s a guy to do?

Of course you meant crappies. wink wink. We know that.
April 26, 2010 at 4:33 pm #866926I said crappies! Darn ‘bass’ were hitting plain hooked crappie minnows on a slip at 7 feet. Even had one try and eat the bopper. Speaking of whities, someone let me know whe they are banging, my kids love that, had a ball last year. Kinda like tarpon fishing on a smaller scale, fun on a fly rod.
April 27, 2010 at 6:07 am #867188found some in front of Everts last Thursday. Nice ones too. Had a cpl approaching 17″
