So whats going on over on the St Croix. Have seen the still water bridge in the news a little the last few days. Are the ramps closed? No wake in effect? Thinking that in the next week or 2 it may be time to go looking for white bass.

One more. When is opener on the Croix this year.

Croix opener is in May. No Wake IS in effect. There is still ice shore to shore on the Croix so not sure how far you’ll get. I’m not sure if any ramps are open.

THERE IS NOT ICE SHORE TO SHORE AROUND STILLWATER! WATER WAS ALMOST TO BRIDGE YESTERDAY, SOME ICE TO THE SOUTH ON THE EAST SIDE OF RIVER.

I was at the Boomsite today. There were 2 empty trailers in the lot. On the bulletin board is a notice that the entire river is a no wake zone-jerr

I drive over the river daily and seen ice (shore to shore) south of Stillwater this morning and ice south of the HWY 94 bridge (shore to shore) this afternoon. The ice may not be connected to the shore, there might be a 10-20 ft. span from shore to ice but from the road it looks shore to shore. I am almost 99% sure it wasnt a mirage. Obviously there was some really good ice on the Croix over the winter, I am surprised it is not gone yet.

Mike – The opener is May 1st. The river is open from about the Excel Energy Plant High Lines and upstream from there. The Boomsite Boat Launch is open but the high water is well up into the ramp. No Wake regulations are in effect and will remain in effect until the water recedes to under 683′. The river is predicted to crest at 687′ on Saturday 27 March and then do a consistent steady drop from there (it is predicted to be at 685.4′ at 7 am on March 30th). If this nice dry spring weather continues to hold we should be in good shape for a May 1st Opener.

Sounds like there IS ice south of Stillwater

I never said there was not open water all I said was that there WAS ice on the river.

The lower Croix is open for as far as the eye can see from the Hwy 10 bridge North, Big sheets of ice remain in places but if a person wanted to travel slowly, I’m sure they could. The boat ramp in Prescott is under water, not sure if it’s open or not, no wake is in effect on the Croix.

Prescot is closed with barricades and piles of dirt.

In between prescott and kinni there is still one big old sheet of ice almost shoreline to shoreline that is very slowly going away. Was just down there last night checking things out.

Cant imagine that ice sticking around for long. Anyone been up around Osceola lately? May have to take a drive over there this weekend and look around.

I wonder what a Jesse mirage would look like? What would he see?
