Fished from 7-11 and picked up 5 crappies in 28 foh. The highlight was right after I got set up. I was actively bouncing a gold spoon with a minnow head off the bottom. I noticed something coming off the bottom on the vex and thump, hook set pole doubled over and nothing. seconds later the drag started to scream. The first run almost spooled me I could see metal on the spool. I had to grab the line and slowly pump the pole to gain back any line. This must have gone on for 10 minutes seemed like twenty. Half way through the battle my legs began to shake. The first view I had was of the shoulders and they filled up the hole. I did get him turned up the hole and he litterally filled it up. I grabbed the spoon to pull him up and got his snout out and was getting ready to grab him and he straigtened the hook. I tries to grab him as he was going back down but could not get my hand between him and the ice to get a grip. He sank down the hole. When I first hooked him all I wanted was to see what it was, a variety of species goes through your mind during the battle. It would have been nice to put a tape on him before sending him back down the hole. Now to my question. My strikemaster drills an 8″ hole and the fish was scraping the sides on the way up. I would say he then had a 22″-25″ girth. Any idea on length? What a blast!!!

It was a sturgeon by the way,

The circumference of an 8″ hole is about 25″.
