12/19 Croix

Sure was alot of people out there. I went out of the Bayport area today and Fishing was not the greatest for me. Caught just 2 dink walleye and 3 small crappie. Had to really work it just to get these few fish.(wasnt to proud of the catch )

I didnt get the green light until late in the afternoon to go fishing so that got me on the ice around 3pm. Had alot of lookers and sniffers but couldnt get ’em to commit. I targeted 15-18FOW which pulled the small-eyes and 24-28FOW which held the crappies. Had alot of suspended fish in the deeper water on the flasher tonight but I think they were real small as they would spook easily when I dropped the bait or brang it up to them There was 7″ of ice in the area I fished. Seen a few wheelers and sleds pulling shacks around the basin.

Anyone else on the Croix? if so how’d you do?

Although my first voyage out to the Croix was a bit of a challenge, I did manage to have a decent day considering what I had to deal with.

Ended up catching 5 14″ saugers which I elected to keep 2 for dinner…Fish seemed to like larger minnows that were dead sticked.

Where did you guys go on to the ice? Will be heading out this afternoon but don’t want to have to walk a mile.

I was just out from Anderson pt off the steep break…Went back there this afternoon and couldn’t get anything to go. Lots of lookers, but no matter what I threw at those fish, they would not commit.

Justin, what kind of shack do you have? Thats where I was yesterday.
