I drove past the Boomsite DNR Launch north of Stillwater on Hiway 95 last night and it was full of cars. Looks pretty good, new ramp and new turnaround. Open again just in time for the sturgeon season too.

Is it true that if a person launches at the boomsite they have to stay upstream of the bridge? Or is that only if I came from downstream of the bridge?

When launching at the Boom Site, the cut off is upstream…so a person can go anywhere down stream…

Steve is much more familiar with the area and can clarify further.

You have your upstream limit bridges confused. The upstream boundary is at the Arcola Railroad High Bridge (Canadian National Railroad) NOT the Stillwater Lift Bridge. If you launch at the Boomsite DNR launch site you are at approximately River Mile 24.8 and you can run upstream to the Arcola High Bridge which is at approximately River Mile 28.5. From the Boomsite DNR Launch you can freely navigate from the Arcola High Bridge upstream limit all the way down to Presott, WI and beyond.

Thanks for the clarification Steve, confusion is not uncommon in my chunk of the world.

Launched out of Boomsite last night. It’s pretty nice. I like the white stripes that line the edge of the ramp. Makes backing in the trailer with the mirrors in the dark much easier! They could really use some type of light, though. That thing is tough to find in the dark! Thank goodness for GPS
