If it is bass, I spent the last few days beating the pads and slop with frogs and boated only 19 small lms. They say that the surface bit it off this year in my area. Pool 9. Anybody having the same luck?

I fished pepin yesterday with my nephew and same here my spots the were giving up lots of fish a month ago. Produced a couple of small sauger and some sheepies but that was it. The fish I did catch were caught riging live bait, Tried pulling cranks too with no luck. Hurry up fall!

I’ve been out chasing cats 9 times in August and have been skunked 7 of them. Things are really slow – I keep telling myself that tonight is the night. I did catch a big turtle last night – is it still a skunk if I catch a turtle?

Oh Well – Tonight is the night.

That Labor Day thing is an urban myth. Last year the Tuna Boats tormented us right through 15 October and the end of the sturgeon season.

with summer not getting here until about a week ago I imagine they will be statying out as long as they can. I am heading to the Turtle Flambeau this weekend. 19,000 acres of water and I will see probably 8 boats a day.

And that’s exactly why I don’t winterize my boat until ice on! I always seem to get the Kinni beach to myself at least once before the end of the season, the family looks forward to that every year. I gave up going on the weekends for now, tired of almot getting run over too many times. Pool 2 is not bad!

I spent the day Wednesday on pool 3 south of Prescott during the rain, wind, and tornados. The lightning finally drove me off the water. I was targeting walleyes, but the smallies were on a tear. I ended up with one 17 and one 18 incher and a bunch of small ones. Also several small sheepies and channel cats. I did get one short and one keeper length walleye. Much tougher than a couple of weeks ago, but I guess considering the weather I should have been happy. Since I’m still learning this piece of water, I had fun, but wasn’t sure if I should be satisfied with the results or try harder next time.

Even though it’ a bad time for walleye, now is one of the best times for big pike if you can find cold water. Me and my buddy got 3 in the 34-37” range right from shore on a dredged out marina north of stillwater. The dredging opens up some underground springs that bring in cold water. They were all caught on #5 mepps with light tackle; definitely alot of fun.
