Governors To Announce St. Croix River Pact
    MADISON, Wis. (AP) ―

Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle and Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty plan to make an announcement Friday in Hudson.

Doyle’s office said he and Pawlenty will tour the St. Croix River via boat and announce a cooperative agreement to clean up and maintain the river.

In January the two governors announced a joint effort between the states to consolidate and share resources in order to save money.

The news conference is the culmination of three days worth of stops Doyle has made in western Wisconsin along the Mississippi and St. Croix rivers.

Also on Friday Doyle planned to visit the Crystal Ball organic dairy farm in Osceola and Interstate State Park in St. Croix Falls.

Tell Gov Tim to leave his C&C gun at home so he doesnt scare Doyle.

Now if they can just agree on an “opening day” we won’t have the split opener issue any longer.

I like the sound of them joining forces!

T many of us that grew up here take it for granted how great this river is. Fishing the croix you never know what you may get on the end of your line. The tell tale signs are showing that the river is healthy. We have large redhorse and species such as the Blue Sucker are starting to come back and be more common. The sturgeon are getting better and more common! We are so fortunate and I want to pass on this great river to our kids!
