We launched our boat in Prescott just downstream from the bridges and it cost me $12. Is there a better/cheaper spot in the area?

    Thanks

Depending on where you’re coming from, the cost of fuel might offset the move to another landing. There are several in the area tho, Hastings has one up closer to the Dam. St.Croix Bluffs has one about 3-4 miles north on the Mn side. It’s part of the Washington County parks system, I pay the annual fee and am still money ahead. Further up is the City of Hudson, and the Boom Site, north of Stillwater, mn. There are others along the way but are expensive or a little difficult to explain how to get to. jerr

if you intend to launch at prescott more than once or twice, you can get a year pass at the prescott city hall/library building for 35.00 its located on the corner of borner and pine street just east of Ptackeks grocery store. Hastings has a free double wide launch on the mississippi, its not in great shape but usable, it tends to be very busy on weekends with many people not knowing how to launch their boats, barge traffic, current, and pleasure boaters continually. the bluffs park is also 35.00 (I think) for a year pass, 3 wide launch, semi-protected cove and a couple docks to tie up to, the downside it doesn’t open until 6am, and once they run out of parking spots you have to wait at the top of the hill to go launch your rig.

Andersen Bay launch at Bayport will run you $10 in donation box (policed) and you have to pick up your driver onshore weekdays at the Lakeside city park at the mouth of the bay. Holiday has bait on MN 95 in town.
Noticed the Regional Bluff Park (formerly ControlData) has lowered annual pass $5 to $25.00 and raised sameday purchase of second permit by same amount to $15. This also gets you into Square, Elmo and Big MArine County launches, as well as the landlocked ravine park off Hwy 61. Baitstores on 61 @ Hastings and Newport.

I think all the ones I know of have been mentioned. Hudson launch is $10 for MN residents now. I would say that the bluffs is definitely the best value if you plan on going out a few times, only problem is they don’t open until 6 AM. I can’t believe how expensive it is just to launch your boat these days. Including the park sticker, I’ve probly spent about $60 already this year
