I made it out for a few hours on Thursday in Bayport. I didn’t have my tape measure, but it looks like 6 to 7 inches of ice. There’s a little more snow (unless it blew away last night) to help with walking.

Ran into Comanchero15 as he was heading home for the day. Hey Steve…next time take the wind along home with ya!

The action was a bite slower than yesterday. I brought home 3 dandy crappies for breakfast this morning. Only released a couple small ones, one short walleye and of course a mudpuppy.

Does anyone have a recipe for mudpuppy? Is there a limit…

Brian, Did you walk across to the WI side to get the Crappies or did you get them on the MN side?

I had sushi for lunch yesterday at Fuji-ya (Mpls). I think they might have slipped me a Mudpuppy.

Yuck! Now there’s a nasty thought!

Nope, didn’t make it to the WI side…(by the way, I wouldn’t walk from MN to WI because I’m scared —- —- of the ice.)

There was a line of portables running North to South. Pop a hole in between and you should be good. 30 -32 feet of water. The crappies were on the bottom as well as the mudpuppies.

Hope to see you out there some time!

I was out there too from 3-5:30. Caught 3 small saugers and 2 nice crappie. Was in 32 feet. Tried to move in to 25 but ice house blew over so I stayed put.
    How deep are people fishing?

Mike, the portables in the North/South line are at 30-32 and fishing with in a foot of the bottom…well I guess I can’t speak for everyone on the last part.

It did get kinda windy about 8 pm too. Lucky my 1/4 barrel of beer was still full to hold me down…

Not much to report here, but I did make it out for the first time on saturday afternoon, after fishing Tonka in the morning, we should have stayed at tonka…..We went off the ferry landing & a little south, out in 35′. Managed a couple small eyes and some action on the vex, but that was it. There was some fella with a s10 parked on the river about 50 yards from shore, braver than I. WIND! We could have had a great “fish trap regatta” with the wind, if you’ve never done it, it’s hilarious. Open the fish trap up 1/2 way, turn it to the wind and get a little running start, yeehaa!

Tonka was great on the other hand, flags every 10 minutes, pike up to 34″ and even a couple bonus 20″ eyes to boot.

Oh Brain, there’s no truth to the rumor that I fish the MN side more. Having lived 1/2 my life in WIS and the other in MN, I am entitled to free reign. the Wi side fished better for me this year, especially muskies.

Well there went my one man rally…and 1/4 barrel!

I guess the fella with the S10 didn’t hear about the 5 or 6 cars that went into Buffalo Lake on Saturday.
