St Croix Cat Fishing Report

The St Croix is just about in summer form – last night pool elevation was 676.3′ (normal is 675.5′) and water temp was 66 degrees. Current flow is down and water is clear with just some grass floating now. Cats are in full pre-spawn mode and the bite has been pretty aggressive. I picked up my first two flatheads of the season last night and they were all over the bait. Channel cats have been on a tear and are taking cut bait, I’ve caught channels on cut sucker, sheepshead and bullhead so they will take just about anything that is fresh and leaving a good scent trail. Here is a pic of a 25# flathead taken last night.

He scores! You forgot to give us the Twins Score from last night!

Nice fish Steve and sure seems like the rivers in the area have turned on.

I think you have to give Catdad a lesson in holding flats…you kind of cover the poo hole and it appears like it’s working for you.
