Hey you guys, I’m new to the boards and a proud fisherman. I’ve never fished the St. Croix. But I would love to try it. I am 12 years old and me and my dad plan to go next Saturday around 6 or 6:30 AM. What fish can they offer at the St. Croix Interstate park? I hear there is a lake called Lake O’ the Dalles, doest that have any decent fish? What other parks or spots are good to fish in the St. Croix? Thanks

One great way to start would be to use a bottom rig with a crawler. There is great redhorse fishing up there along with smallmouth bass, pike, white bass, crappies, and cats. The stretch through the canyon area is very deep and the shallower areas with current breaks is where I would suggest to start. You can fish 2 lines each and fish from MN side or WI side. THere is a boat launch in the park that would be an easy area to start looking for fish.

    Good Luck

Welcome to the site. Are you guys shore fishing or in a boat. Early int he morning look for white bass feeding on the surface. Try throwing a surface lures for them. A jig/white twister tail works great. There may be some walleyes to be had early morning also. Cant beat a crawler fished on the bottom for numbers of fish.
