Im currently restricted to shore casting for cats until i get my motor serviced, and the only real decent places i know of are the two damns in hudson where willow river/lake malalieu dumps into the st croix. Anyone have any ideas/tips on where else to look for them from shore? 
Try the swing bridge south of Osceola
I would recommend shorefishing at the outlet at the Allen S. King Excel Energy Plant in Bayport. You can fish two rods – bait one with cut bait for channels and the other with live bait (bullhead or sucker) for flatheads. It is a bit of a walk but your chances are pretty good there.
You could also try the Boomsite Wayside Rest north of Stillwater on Highway 95. Fish the cut between the shore and the island with cut bait for channels.
