I was out fairly late with a un named friend the other night.

When his FG called he talk a bit and then was going to hang up with her citing “it’s rude to talk on the phone with others around”. Before he hung up and loud enough for her to hear on the other end, I said “It’s ok, go ahead and talk…we aren’t leaving for few more minutes”. So that chatted. The conversation turned toward how often guys call their wifes or girl friends while fishing. He was saying to her that they only call on their way home…I of course said quite loudly, every 20 minutes.

So..I thought I would make a little post about how often we all call home and that he’s in the minority.

    Any help would be appreciated!

I only call on the way home if I had missed calls on the phone from her while I was on the water.

Normally when I am fishing I do not make any phone calls, I will take calls but when I am fishing I have fishing on my mind. Before I leave I call my wife and make sure she is willing to clean any fish I bring home, you see I don’t clean fish.

I see….this is a very interesting topic, I think “YOUR” friends “WIFE” will be quite upset when she finds out I call
home every 15 minutes to make sure my woman, her daughter and the dog are safe and knows that I am safe and if I need to pick anything up from the grocery store etc., etc., etc.

This is why I love to take trips out of cell phone range

I carry the cursed phone for emergencies. Otherwise, I use it for a clock.

I’d shut it off if it rang too much. I don’t want to spook fish away. They are very sensitive.

She knows before hand, I picked a great one. When I’m out, I’m out. She is usually in the boat with me. I can out-fish her, but she can out-measure me, amazing how well she is at judging length, right down to a tenth of an inch. She should be a CO?

I was thinking I knew who your friend was I never call unless it is an emergency but the wife has been known to call and give me updates if there is something important going on and I am fishing instead of ??????
I do have one tourney partner that has been known to check in when he should be doing other things I wonder if my partner knows your friend

    Rich,

I cant believe you let Jr. do that while you guys are tourney fishing but then again I can understand as I check in with my woman every 10 minutes to make sure she is happy.

Jr knows better—I paid for his phone so I’d have no problem sending it to the fishes That other guy though—he tries to text and fish at the same time I heard that he is explaining to Mama that there is no phone reception on Mille Lacs so that won’t be a problem there—any truth to that

I call her while I’m on the water to tell her that “I know I’m supposed to be home now, but they are just starting to bite”

She wanted to make a post but I told her she would have to register and post under her own name. Just for those of you that want to know DO NOT try to tell your woman that when you are fishing you are single as it doesnt fly over very well I sometimes learn from the school of hard knocks

Beats talking about your auger…this time of year anyway.

Aren’t you fishing on the southeast break of the kinni today. Heard the eaters are biting there.

I will give her a call about 1/2 way into the day to see how she is doing and check in on the kids as well. If it is an out of town trip I will call her when I arrive, on the water, and also when I get off the water each day so she knows I am safe…but there are some good spots that “just don’t get cell coverage”
