Met this guy mid stream this morning. He thought he was going to jump on board and take a breather. I am glad my motor was qiucker than his. Any ideas on what kind of snake this was. It was yellow and black.

I saw one just like that at the Kinni on Saturday. Yellow and black just like yours. Don’t know what kind.

Maybe a bull snake. They don’t mind water at all.

I was thinking the same thing as brian. There is a lake here that is infested with the water snakes and if you don’t know what they are, they scare the crap out of people like me. They do this sneaky thing where they swim right up underneath you when you’re fishing and suddenly you catch this slithering beast right under your feet and you crap your pants. Most of the yokels think they are cottonmouths. It’s a good thing for the snakes. They get left alone.

There are some cool pictures on this page. LINK

A lot of the ones I see are colorful and about 2′ long but don’t have much girth to them. They get angry if you try to displace them with the end of a fishing pole.

No, Brian. It’s not a one-eyed trouser snake!

Is that snake related to the mammal known as the trouser mouse with the turtle neck sweater?

Northern Water Snake is correct and they have been known to climb up anchor ropes…….NO LIE!

Whats with the snakes on this site lately? I hate those things. If I had one climb up on my boat, I would pass out.

Great, not only do I have to worry about the transom…now the front of the boat too.

    Brian,
Thanks for the link it did say that they are active at night. It also mentioned they have a preference for small bullheads and cut bait I had a hard time getting close to it in daylight I can only imagine sitting in a boat at midnight and not seeing it coming.

Someone on pool 4 had a snake in their boat, my son saw them get it out of the boat, and I herd them talking about a snake, wonder if it was the same kind.
