I hooked up with Comanchero15 on the Bayport Ice today. Now there’s a guy that has everything to make a person feel comfortable. He didn’t bring along the kitchen sink, but he had the towel from the kitchen sink!

As always, in numbers…I was out fished. But the good thing was that I didn’t have to cast, so I didn’t need to get the band aids out.

I hooked into my first stergon. She may not look to big….but my ice rod is the tip of a fly rod. I was holding the handle level with the ice, but the rod was bent 90 degress and going down the hole….2 lbs test. I can’t believe the edge of the ice didn’t break it…

Steve was pretty quick to release his fish. I could only get one picture before she was back in the hole. She lives to be caught another day…

Thanks for the good company and the experiance Steve! (not to mention the catfish info! ) Now we just need to get “nobody’s poster child out there! And HAS of course.

    Brian,
Nice stugren you got there. There pretty fun to catch through the ice. I remember one morning last year, when a buddie and I caught 11 one morning. Well, there is two more days of finals left then i’m free, to not, go ice fishing all year.JK. How could you keep this guy away from fishing. Hope I didn’t scare to many of you.

Cool Catch BB!! Are you evading the rela-tics on the 25th? I’ve got New Year’s open too (12/31 and 1/1) if there’s anything to be had on those days. I’ll go buy a rod suitable for “surprises”!

You don’t need a new rod. I have an extra….all with the points of the hooks filed blunt….. For pete’s sake Still…Christmas day? Only if I could get my wife out…I might have a chance…no…driving to Hutch then to Anoka…BUT the 12/31 -1/1 could work. I’ll let you know when we get just a little closer….

Cool! I’ll polish up the deflector helmet and stuff some fleece in there to keep the ears comfy!

Well lookey here what I stumbled on to accidentally – BK’s report of his first “stergon” he hooked into. Who’d have thunk what this would have evolved into for him, and something he’s already retired from 15 years later.

He probably never would have guessed he’d be sitting with his feet up on a Tuna Camper now.

The peeps of IDO have everything to do with living that 15 year dream I didn’t know I had at the time. bow

Thanks for bringing this to the top, she’s an oldie but goodie at least for me.

Steve is still out there fishing on the Croix, Stillakid is around here too.

HAS ended up getting married and I haven’t seen him since. Haven’t heard of any bodies showing up either. )

Good time with many good “box” friends as Suzuki’s wife would say. rotflol

WOW! I forgot all about that trip. Thanks for the memories. It was pretty funny watching you pull in that sturgeon on that little fly rod tip ice rod. Just think what would have happened if that would have been Darren’s big sturgeon.
