Was fishing for crappies Thursday morning. Mainly marking fish in the bottom 12 fow. I marked several fish on the flasher in 8 to 10 fow quickly pulled my jig up to them and bam fish on. It was 12″ long ans slender, silver in color like a mooneye. Are there tulibe in the croix? Shad do not get to be that size do they? I wish I had a camera so I could have posted a pic. If it was a Tulibe are they good to eat? Fried or smoked? Excuse my ignorance.

I think I just answered my question I looked up Whitefish ont he internet and the pic sure looks like what I caught. I assume Whitefish and Tulibe are one of the same?

Could be a mooneye or an american shad and yes they do get that big. No Tullibee in the Croix but I would guess one of those two options. Without a pic it would be hard. As far as Tullibee and the Whitefish they are different fish but very similar.

    List in order of fish
    -American Shad
    -Mooneye
    -Tullibee/Cisco
    -Lake Whitefish

Never heard of a whitefish in the croix. To me they look nothing like a mooneye but I would think that is the most likely. They are more commonly caught in the summer but they are caught throught the ice. Both the Shad and the mooneye were from the croix but the other two are not.
