AM crappie bite

Took one of my fishing buddies out on the Croix this am . He was almost ready to sell all his ice fishing gear cause he, we’ll just say he gets schooled but it happens to all of us getting schooled that is.

We got to fishing about 8am and we put the down on the crappies until about 9:30am then the fish completely shut down. We both iced 12+ crappies and had others get off the hook on the way to the hole The crappies were absolutely hammering every bait we had down from small crappie jigs with small crappie minnows to medium sized jigs with good sized fat heads. 36FOW was the depth of choice and color didnt matter as long as there was a minnow involved.

Needless to say there will be no sale of ice fishing gear and he will be returning in the morning

I think we fished your old holes JJ..
Not as fast and furious as u told me of the day before BUT, the marcum was reading everything from 6″- 10′ up and schools of baitfish(shad?) were everywhere
Catching most about 1-3’off bottom..
Oh, as you can see it The Old Wise One who had most of the luck! I think he has a golden horshoe in his back pocket
