Well, Part of me thinks that the shop will open again, It’s sad to drive past that stinky ol’ baitshop, and not be able to go in and chew the fat, about fishing, sports, whatever… I never knew how much I liked it. Time has a way of changing things.

I think Turk is referring to Jimmy’s that used to be in Stillwater.

It sure is sad, they did nothing with that end of the building. I thought the plan was to expand the restaurant?

I miss it too. Trouble with that exact spot is that it looks like the perfect place for a Bait shop. That little hole in the wall kind of place that fits a bait shop perfectly. It sure is a pain in the buttocks trying to find a scoop of fatheads now.

Just on top of the hill at the gas station. I think its an Oasis Mart. I’ve talked with the guy that runs it and if you want him to carry something as far as tackle he does his best to get it in the store. They even have some off-brand ringworms in there. Fat heads, Crappie, and Shiner minnows are available there.

Thanks for the info, Jesse. That is good news. Houlton’s a hop, skip and a jump away. It didn’t take long to miss the convenience of a home town bait shop.

    It’s still sitting empty
I see the archery shop on Hwy 5 has a live bait sign on the building. It’s south of 36 on the west side in a little mall. I don’t know the name.

Ferny – The new Stillwater bait shop is up and running. The address is High Five Archery, 5639 Memorial Ave, Stillwater, MN 55082. The telephone number is 651-351-5143. There was an article in the Stillwater Gazette on March 12th, they will be selling minnows, leeches and nightcrawlers. It is located just west of County Road 5, across from Stillwater Senior High School next to Victory Fitness. Good news for me as it is only about a mile from my house. I bought some fatheads there last week – they plan on stocking a good assortment of minnows once the season is on.
