Had a great day on the Croix Sunday. My brother and buddy came up to visit and ice fish. I live in woodbury and fsh croix a bit, but my brother found the right spot. Between 3 of us 30 some crappies from 9.5 – 13 inch range most in the 11 inch range. Oh yeah this sturgeon that took me for a ride for 20 min. The crappies were hitting only the minnow heads and had to be small minnows. I tip them on a diamond jigs. Colors I used were fire tiger in the morning, gold in the afternoon, and glow red in the early evening. They did not want a waxie at all. I was using a spring bobber cause it was a must. They were hitting hard early then sucking it the minnow head later. With out it would of missed alot of them. They were taking the jig upwards so you could see the spring bobber go up then you know to set the hook. I believe the best thing to do is stay away from crowds and explore. We drilled alot of holes to get these.

Great report ROK! I agree with staying away from the crowds, as I have seen for myself (fishing with you) that it seems to produce great success. I also agree with the light bite, this year seems to be that way everywhere! I’ll be thinking of you Thurs – Mon, while I’m fishin 24-7 for them brute cropnecks!

We started in 35 feet of water alot of lookers no takers. So we moved into 25 – 27 foot of water that seemed to help. There was alot of current in the deeper water so my opion is to be right outside of the channel where the water doesn’t move as much. Then again just an opion.
