Just a quick report for the croix folks. Was out last night for the last couple hours of the day, from 3 till dark. We huddled with the rest of the boats in afton and did some vertical jigging. There were a couple boats focused on pulling cranks & 3 way rigs, but the success was limited. We primarily fished zip’s in 45-26’of water and managed to get 9 in the well in short order. They were all burping up 4-6″ shad in the well, and one fat 20″ sauger had 3 fresh ones in his belly, and a 4th sticking out of his mouth. Saw something really interesting too, there will little droplets of what looked like gas/oil bubbling to the surface, but it was shad oil. They were being eaten in the depths and their oils were all over the surface, I’ve only heard of this in salt water. water twmp was just under 43 and there was very little current.
