Knowing a particular body of water well has obvious advantages in fishing. I have spots mapped out pretty good in my head and after years of guiding, I know where the snags are on the places I fish. One key technique is to pound the bottom with heavy lures to cause a scene down below (by stirring up silt or sand), making a ruckus in places where the snags are not. Do this to kick up fish and not catch snags, this techniques can go a long way in triggering fish especially when Fall vertical jigging walleye and sauger. Good luck! Turk
