I took the kids out Monday for the day. Talk about a STEAMY start to the day! The nice thing was the river was like glass which meant no cruisers until later. It was a real mixed bag. 1 channel cat about 8 lbs, 1 pike about 4lbs, many frisky smallies up biggest 16″, 1 carp on a crank!, and 4 walleyes…3 being 10″ and the last one looked to be ~16″ fell off at the net. My boy is learning how to net They were all released although some unintentionally!
The weather went from super hot and steamy to cool and sprinkling, to downright windy in the late afternoon but I didn’t mind it was better than work. Water temp was 77 degrees and the river level is coming down nicely for rock fishing smallies.
My son was happy to see a shad getting chased by something, a real catfish and a real carp. My girl had enough by 1pm. and I dropped her off to go shopping in Stillwater and we trolled for the walleyes in the wind.
Later,
Ferny.
