I spoke to my brother and his quote was “The trip lived up to the hype”

We had a great time fishing with the Griz. We fished within view of Prescott on spots noted on my fishing maps, so I did not learn any secret spots. I fished with two of my older brothers and we tagged along for an extra 50 bucks.

I learned the art of snap jigging, which out performed dragging or a less aggressive lift and drop. Snap jigging basically is raising your rod tip about one foot very quickly, I would guess that the jig pops of the bottom by 2-3 feet, and catching it about a foot from the bottom and lowering it to touch bottom. Usually the fish would grab it right about the time you would catch the jig.

We caught our limit of 15-18 fish and released over 100 small fish and sheep head. Jig and minnow was the key. I tried ringworms and a few Berkley products with no success.

I included a picture of my brother, with his 26 1/4″, birthday Walleye. My dad, at 84, with one of his small eyes. In addition, a photo of them in Griz’s Jon boat. Everyone who passed them did a double take and you could see them pointing out the living legend.

With all of our busy schedules, it was nice to have all the brothers together at once. Hiring a guide for a day on a new body of water is going to become an annual trip for the Connors’ boys!
