St Croix Channel Cats are on

    The St Croix was beautiful last night. Weather was clear, cool with a waning almost full moon and the winds were calm and the water flat as glass and a balmy 60 degrees. The river is at 679.2′ (normal pool elevation is 675′) which puts it almost back within its banks finally and the cats are back in their normal haunts. I hate high water!!

    Mixed bag last night. I had hooks in the water with the start of the Twins game. The game sucked but the fish were biting so that made up for it.

    I had a few hits and misses to start the evening and then picked up a 21″ walleye on cut bullhead. You walleye guys are using the wrong bait!

    Then I picked up a small 22″ channel cat and just about at the end of the Twins game I picked up a big, beautiful 30″ channel cat. I also caught a nice turtle on a bullhead – little bit of everything biting last night.

    Twins game sucked – Sidney Ponson beats the Twins in a truly ugly game. Oh Bother! I at least caught my first cats of the season – I’m after them now. Here is a pic:
