Got out this morning at 6:30 tried all my favorites between the Kinney and Prescott. The bite was the toughest I’ve had in 2 weeks. Caught 4 mini’s and a nice 21″ sauger. The sauger came on a #7 blue and chrome shad. It was a beautiful day,to bad the fish did’nt want to cooperate. Watch your trailers down at the Bluff’s . I watched a guy scrape the last 4ft of his new Ranger trailer while launching today.

I’ve heard in past years that often as the fall progresses the best bite shows up later in the day. Have you run into this in your experience? Just wondering if there’s any relativity to being a victim of timing? Either way, better luck next time!

I fished fri in the wind and also had a tough time, went back out yesterday and managed a few whites and a small northern, but it wasnt very good for walleye or sauger (at least for me) I think its going to be guide time in the spring!!!!! I have seen other posts stating the bite on the croix is better mid day, late day, night, morning etc, i guess its just a confidence thing….or ability. ive been fishing the st c regularly for the last 2 years and i cant pin it to morning or eve???

i gotta be honest with you I have done some of my better fishing mid-day down there. But have overall done good before the sun starts hitting the water. Today there was very little wind, so that did not help. When I figure the perfect time I’ll quit working and fish full time. My wife would love that.

I was out Saturday morning 6 a.m.-10:00 and tried trolling south of kinni to prescott. Nothing. Switched to lindy w/ redtails and fatheads still only managed a few bites and a smallmouth. However, I found the fish at 9:00 and for the next hour caught suager and walleye one after the other. The guys jigging were catching a few but slowly pulling the lindy was the key, out producing the jig bite. A orange hooked out produced a plain hook. For me the troll bite wasn’t there but live bait was hot. I ended up with lots (12) of 14.5″ fish and managaed a few keepers.

Thanks for the info, anything has got to better than trolling . I feel the need to feel the bite !!!!! I am off all next week so I plan to get out as much as time will allow. Hopefully this weather this week won’t warm things up again to much. I’ll keep you posted. Let me know if you guy’s get out before then.

    Thanks JIM Q
