Well I just got off the river about Noon. It was a productive morning with 16 fish caught and 6 put in the box.I started out again around the Kinney and worked my way south. All the fish caught were in 18 ft of water , trolling still was the way to go. Also the fish are right on the breaks. If anyone is catching fish shallow or jigging let me know. The fish wre 16 to 19 1/2 again. All nice keepers. I will be out again Wed. Good luck out there! By the way all the BIG boy’s are on the water for the RCL. There hanging south of the RR bridge though!

    Twisted,
Have you been trolling down stream? I picked up some nice sauger south of the Kinney last Thursday. All of my fish were caught trolling upstream, at 2.8-3.0 mph.

Sandbar, Yesterday most of the fish came going down stream from about 1.8 to 2.3. But it seemed like any variation in speed seemed to trigger them. Like finshing out your pass over a bar then making the turn.

    Twisted,
At 1.8-2.3 mph, are you using 3 ways and stick baits? I have had luck long lining #7 jointed shad raps. The 18′-20′ depths seem to produce the most fish. Sunday near Hudson, picked up two keeper Walleye, one keeper Sauger, and a variety of Smallies and Silvers. Thanks for the info.

Twisted, I was out yesterday from 8 – 2. Managed to put a mixed bag together. Smallie, Saugers, Walleye, whities, crappie. I started trolling 3 ways w/ cranks in 18-25′ on the MN side just north of Afton. My electronics were lit up with bait fish and large arches all around. Managed a couple saugers there. Then headed south and made a couple very slow trolling passes in 6 – 16′ Started catching walleye in 8′ in areas w/ sharp breaks and lots of rocks. Most fish were in the 19″ range. Used Lindy w/ fathead and found productive water on both sides of the river. Caught one good sauger jigging in 12′. Also saw the RCL guys mostly around Prescott, backtolling under the bridge and trolling the WI side. Those that were there weren’t catching much.

Chappy, Yea they were above the bridge on Monday , but they should’nt be on Wed. Also I have been running lead line with #5 Shad,s . That is why I would like to get back to throwing some plastic’s when they really get the feed bag on. But just about all my fish lately has been WALLEYE”S which is a nice change.
