St Croix Report – 16 September

    Fished the Stillwater – Bayport area from 3:00 pm to 6:30 pm today. Weather was beautiful – warm (83), breezy wind from the south, water temp 73, water “LOW”. Caught 25 crappies (kept 13 large to medium for a nice meal). Caught them on small chart tubes baited with Berkley Crappie Nibs. Find the baitfish and you will find the crappies.

    Noticed a lot of bugs on the water with bait fish nearby. Its time to follow the gulls again. Found schools of shad in the main channel with gulls nearby.

    If the “breeze” goes down a bit today I was thinking of looking for some crappies tonight. Caught one the otherday south of the kinni to make a meal with the (only) eye that I caught…Made me hungry.
