Teamed up with the awesome Erik Haslund yesterday and learned a lot about an Afton section of the river. We didn’t kill ’em but there was some smallie action to be had and crankin’ for walleye/sauger on snap weights produced some bites for us. Mostly small but I think he’s got the pattern down for some bigger fish. Of course, the “roughies” had to make their appearances as well but we were never bored!

Fall bite is right around the corner! Thanks Has!

I know I’m asking for it…but did you survive Erik?

We were out south of Afton, down closer to Prescott and managed 6 keeper saugers,a bonus crappie, and surprisingly few sheepers. All on jig/minnow combos fishing from 22 feet down to 36 feet. Couldn’t really put a pattern together, just move to cover water, pick up a fish here and there, and move on. Hopefully, cooler temps and hotter bites are gonna be here soon!
Anyone been out on the Vermillion around DeShane’s lately? I’m wondering what the water levels are like on that stretch, down to the south of the railroad bridge.

What do you mean, “Did I survive Erik?” Is there something I should know about him? I can tell you there were no plugs thrown at my face, no lures thrown in trees, no lines in the trolling motor, no one thrown overboard, or threatened by bald-faced bees. A lot less snags too! No mess on the side of the boat either!

    ………………….did I miss anything? Oh yeah………..he didn’t give me his boat……………but that’s okay…………..you gave me yours! …………….kinda……….

Did James ever add the Graemlin with it’s tail between it’s legs?
