I’m only kidding about the trash fish. Rivereyes has been asking when I would be posting the picture and story. And thanks to his work I have a picture that I can post.
A few Fridays ago I was having problems on the Croix catching fish and managed only to catch someone’s landing net that must have fallen overboard. So if you are missing one you can have it if you identify it.
Frustrated I decided to try fishing eyes on a lake north and west of New Richmond on the following Sunday. I was on the lake by 6:00 am in the morning trolling cranks. I caught a small walleye right away. And it began puring rian. Some of use have never learned to get out of the rain. It took awhile before I hooked the next fish. A musky around 12 pounds. Too me a nice fish. It took about 15 minutes to land and a half hour to revive before I could let it go. A half hour later in the same exact spot I bumped a rock pile and thought I was snagged. However as I kept moving forward the “rocks” were moving too. After about 20 minutes I finally got to see the tail of the fish. I almost dumped a load in my pants on the spot. Another musky. Much bigger. After a circus of screwing around in the boat, bumping into peoples docks on shore, starting the motor and moving out to deeper water, a net too small, an hour of fighting it (holding on) and more than hour I finally landed it.
I tried to revive it, but unfortunately it wasn’t to happen so I decided to take it home. The fish weighed 30+ pounds and measured 50 inches long.
I have other pictures and am curious if it is worthy of the picture gallery and if so how to get one there.
