I’ve been out this past Monday evening and last week on Wednesday evening as well and as normal have been pulling cranks on the Croix and having some success on saugers on the islands by the YMCA camp. Both cases I went out in the evening after 6:00 pm and caught about a dozen and a half saugers. Most were below 15 inches, but both times I caught enough in the 17 inch range that I could have kept a limit.
I’m trolling # 9 deep diving shad raps. The colors I have been using changes as I get closer to sundowm. I start with a clown color and migrate to a perch color. The best depth has been around 24 feet. I suppose I’m not catching as many walleyes as saugers due to the depth. Also I have caught a couple of very nice whites just south of the 94 bridge on the WI side.
