Not really much to post about as far as fishing goes but we had a wonderful day on the Croix today!
I did pull a crank bait for a while – mostly just while in the no-wake zones in Hudson and Afton. We did manage to hook into some nice smallies (I’m still amazed that they will hit a crankbait pulled along the bottom in 12-15 fow?!?!). We also had a few eyes nibble the gibble (that would be the trailing hooks) along the shorelines. My son (back from Afghanistan) caught his first walleye EVER 
… nothing to write about as it was a shortie but it was his first none the less… he wants to go out again tomorrow morning for the pre-dawn raid!
Mostly, we spent the day down by the Kinni; swimming and picnicing. Also pulled the kids around on the tube and my son cut some waves on a single ski. It was hot out there but the Croix offered an excellent reprive from heat.
I think I’m going to have to change my work week schedule so that I have days off during the week. What a beautiful body of water on a day when the boats are at a minimum….
